School Report Card
Letter from the Principal
Dear Unionville Families and Friends,
At Unionville Elementary School, we take great pride in providing a high-quality education to every student. Our mission is to cultivate 21st-century learners who are prepared to thrive in a global society. Through effective teaching strategies, timely interventions, strong advocacy, and a deep respect for our traditions, we strive to nurture well-rounded students ready to excel in secondary education and beyond.
We are committed to staying at the forefront of educational innovation to meet the evolving needs of our students. We are continuing our professional development centered on the Science of Reading through a comprehensive training program. This initiative is designed to enhance our phonological instruction and better support students who face challenges with reading.
Beyond academics, Unionville offers a variety of enriching extracurricular activities such as Art Club, Girls on the Run and Broadway Bob. These programs not only broaden our students’ experiences but also empower our staff to be active advocates for their academic and social development.
We cherish our school’s rich history and traditions. This year marks the 76th Annual Unionville BBQ, a beloved event that brings together hundreds of volunteers from our community and staff, all working collaboratively to support our students’ learning. In honor of this longstanding tradition and our school’s heritage, we continue to expand our History Wall, a curated collection of photographs and artifacts that began in the 2014-2015 school year.
Additionally, we proudly celebrate a decade of our Spanish Immersion program with one class per grade from kindergarten through fifth grade. Unionville is also honored to be recognized as a Model Global Ready School, with our certification renewed as recently as April 2021.
We have also embraced a new initiative in AgTechnology and students are exploring the world through a lens of Global AgTech related topics.
By upholding these commitments, we ensure that every student receives the education they deserve. The impact of these efforts is reflected in student success, as measured by multiple indicators—including the North Carolina Report Card. This federally mandated report highlights the achievement and growth our students attained in the previous school year and offers valuable insights for our community and stakeholders.
Our mission is to keep everyone connected and informed about the progress at Unionville Elementary School. We welcome your questions about the NC Report Card or any other aspect of our school at any time. Together, we can accomplish great things!
